Hi,

Could you be a bit more specific?
Are you still able to boot into Windows?

Assumption is the mother of all f*ck-ups.

✔ Best Answer
Go to this website (assuming this is XP):
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_ass...

Following their instructions, download and run the EXE fix.

If you still have problems try the LNK fix on there too.

Finally, if necessary, go to the Run box type sfc /scannow and hit Enter key.
Wait for it to finish so that it restores any missing system files.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

If Dereks suggestion does not resolve the problem, I would then try a windows system restore, go back to date before you made the mistake.

What sometimes happens is the ".exefix" will fix the exe problem, but you may end up with a bunch icons/shortcuts that are still incorrect(hence Dereks lnk fix). However you should be able to run system restore after applying the fix. See what happens.
System restore instructions.

Were you not able to get to the EXE & LNK fixes on the website in #3?

If not download them on another computer, unzip them and put them on a USB Flash drive. See if they will Run from the flash drive on your own computer.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
