Help: devdlr on shutdown & svchost.exe
Name: Eric Date: October 30, 2001 at 09:29:07 Pacific
Comment:
Everytime I try to shut down, XP gives me a message that "devdlr" can't be closed automatically, resulting in that I can't shutdown the computer or restart windows without doing a hard reset..
Furthermore there are several "svchost.exe" in my Task Manager, where I don't know what they do in XP. Anybody got some hints?!
Howdy, Don't attempt a search on the file, you will find nada. I started having the same problem with the devdlr after installing and loading the Win 2K drivers for my sound blaster card and that is when the problems occured. My problem was not as bad as yours sounds though. I could 90% of the time, end the task and everything was ok. Now, since I have updated my SB drivers to the proper ones, the problem has not happened. So do you remember what ya loaded last before the problem began? You also might try running system restore prior to the problem occuring.

It is related to your sound card drivers, update them to either 2000 or XP and that will fix your problem.

Replace the devldr32.exe file in your system32 folder with the devldr32.dll file which you can find on your XP cd rom. Be sure to boot in save mode first

Thanks for all the help.. seems to be I installed the 3.0er Version of LiveWare at first.. After uninstalling and fetching the newest version for XP, everything's fine now.. only thing would be the 1-min.-taskbar-freezing at startup, but thats not a real problem.. ;-)

I've tried to copy or extract the devldr32.exe from the XP CD, but in safe mode, but it won't let it happen because the file is in use :(
Summary: This all started to happen to me 2 days ago, and I have been trying to fix the problem since. The problem is with many bugs that all happened at the same time that I believe that might be all related....
Summary: I have spent 2 days looking for a fix for cpu running at 100%, svchost.exe was running at 70%. I found a virus called worm_agobot.r running on my computer. It puts a file in task mananger called svchos...
