I'm an experienced computer user. I can't remember the last time I lost a file. I have a two month old Dell computer & I just lost my second directory in just two months. I'm sure I didn't delete either of these and I'm mystified by this.
I searched for it on my hard drive (and network too) & I checked my recycle bin -- nothing anywhere.
I have two concerns:
1. I want to recover my lost directory (directories)
2. What is happening so I can stop it in the future?
Thanks for your help.

How about a wild guess?
You are confusing this new machine with the old machine. The new machine never had those two directories.
My guess is based on the facts that you are experienced and never lost one before.
You can't lose something you didn't have.

Bryan

Thanks guys, I'm running currently running PC Inspector. The biggest problem with this program is that it retrieves files individually. Since I lost 2 sub-directories, I'd prefer to retrieve them by directory. There are other problems with the way the program works for my purposes but if I can find a program that retrieves directories would probably be really helpful. Any ideas?
Also, Bryan...yours is a wild guess. This new computer ate them.
Thanks again, any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know what happened to the lost directories. It's happened two times. My last useage was copying/moving a file to another computer. A bit after that the directory was gone. I'm an experienced user, I didn't do anything to delete them. That's all I know.

You may be an experienced user but did you know that if you have used System Restore to restore your PC to an earlier time, it can delete folders?

Hi
You say you're on a Network. Are the subject folders on a Shared Drive (ie everyone has access) or are they in your Personal Folder?
Does someone have your password and therefore access to your Personal Folders?
Just a thought.
John
