Why did you reformat the hard drive in the first place ? Were you having some a specific problem with the computer ?

Questions?

Can you boot up into BIOS and get a proper display of system setup screens?

Are you using a full instal disk or a "Restore" disk?

What prompted the decision to format?

At what point in the instal do you get the non-responsive White screen?

Does the system have an IDE or SATA harddrive?

If it is a genuine IBM what is the model number?

i had a bad virus thats why i was forced to reformat.
and yes ican get into the BIOS and see everything.
im not sure what type of harddrive it is and the white screen appears right after the operating system is loaded, but i do remember that windows was at the part where it asks me to name my computer so it was almost done.
and im not sure which number the model number is on the side of the computer?

aegis... "Please ignore!" that's a bit cryptic!

There you go... makes sense now.

Once I thought I was wrong, now I'm not so sure!

I'd suggest you start over, only this time, instead of formatting the partition, delete it and create a new one. I've found in the past that formatting often leaves traces of data on the drive, which can cause all sorts of problems when reinstalling Windows.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.
