Is it possible for me to make a clean install of winxp corp. 2600 build ? I was able to upgrade with this disk, I'm pretty sure the disk is bootable. When I start the clean install and boot from the CD the initial components load up then I get a message that says ready to load windows, press return, when I do this I get a message that says no hard drives fround on my system !!?? Help what should I do. I want a clean install, should I reformat my drive and then clean install say win 98 se and then upgrade to xp , essentially giving me a clean install of xp, or is there a magic answer to make this cd work ????? Thanks

There is a way.It sounds like you have the 2600 upgrade disk,so you can't boot straight from it with an empty hard drive. The only difference between the upgrade disk and the full vesion is the executables on the disk. The upgrade disk looks for an installed version of windows on the hard drive before it can run,and the full version does not.So my advice is to boot from your 98 setup disk, format the hard drive, and install 98.When that is installed and running(don't worry about installing all of your drivers for 98 you'll overwrite them soon enough)boot off your Xp disk.Delete the windows directory on the disk by having Xp delete it (or overwrite it,I forget which)and install Xp.Clean enough? Good Luck!!!
