Try this first. If your XP is Home, you will need to boot to safe mode to accomplish it. I hope by taking ownership there will be no issue with your password-protected adm account. Please post back.

Hello everyone. This is my firs post here and I'm not a professional. Hope somebody will be able to help me out. Well, the problem is: Recently my Win XP crashed. Unfortunately I had a lot of important documents there, without any backups. So, I decided to reinstall OS, and leave previous version on HDD. Simply during installation process I entered "Windows1" as a default dir for OS. Everything went smoothly, and I got new up and running OS. But, now I can't access my documents from "Windows/.../desktop" folder - it says me that "access denied". Before crash I had a password protected account with admin rights. Please, help me to access this docs, as they are really important for me. Thanx a lot, Alex
