HDD ownership changed default User Profile

Specs: Windows XP
my laptop's dedicated VGA card was trashed. so i removed the hdd and placed it in an external hdd casing to be able to access files in "my documents" in another pc. so to access the files, i have to changed ownership and was successful on this. when my laptop is fixed and the hdd was placed back and after rebooting it, the laptop couldn't find the default user profile and thus created a new one. my settings and programs were placed in another folder and is not the default profile.

can someone pls. help me restore it back. thnx

Lost or Corrupt User Profile
Create a new account/administrator profile and log in. Then go to C:\Documents and Settings\[Previous User Profile] and copy all folders to: C:\Documents and Settings\[New User Profile]. Then reboot.
