During installation of xp pro i recieve no errors yet my hdd tends to stop responding. Upon booting the computer and heading to bios it reads that all is well and all is recognized, yet when i attempt to setup my os it hangs immediately after being asked to continue setup. so i tried win98 with the same results yet it tells me that there is no hdd or there is a problem. So thinking my brand new western digital 80 gig hdd had died i swapped it with my old 15 gig of the same brand with the exact same results. Ive tried many different options to remedy the situation but none have worked. Ive switched the power plugs.. the ribbon.. nothing seems to be working right. Please help. My system by the way is an ASUS A7v8x-x mobo with an AMD XP2800 with a 512 chip of OCZ pc2700 ddr with enermax 450 watt powersupply.
