Solved hdd format/ reinstall

Specs: Windows 2000
8mb partition ? is this the norm after a format or is this something else in the system. Its been suggested that this is produced by the new instalition of xp ?

Sometimes people install a second XP by doing the wrong procedure. Then boot list two XPs. Follow procedure correctly.

cheers chuck, will check the procedure . however i have a non listed item in start up menu which is why i think that its a bogus partition ( fresh install too again) by non listed i mean theirs no description for it or command only location which is -software\microsoft\windows\current version\run Not sure if i can or should trust it .

An 8gb partition might be the (image) restore partition that is put on the hard drive by OEM manufacturers. If it is, better not mess with it. It can be used to restore the system to the way it came from the factory.
