More issues with the HP All-in-One I bought. I hope what I'm about to post makes sense --- When attempting to install the software for the printer It would get about halfway through then have a fatal error - so I would cancel the installation, the software would then say that it was removing all parts of the program it had already installed then I would have to restart and try installing again. The 3rd or 4th time this happened I recieved a message saying that I no longer had the HD space avaliable to install the full program and it recommended a min install, the next time it couldn't even do a min install. I checked my HD space, sure enough, it said it was full- I checked my HD for left overs from the HP install but I couldn't find any. I then added up all of my folder sizes on the C drive and I couldn't get them to add up to the 19+ GB it said was taken up. I could only calculate about half that size. I tried to defrag but I recieved the warning that I didn't have enought free space to properly defrag the HD. Whats going on here? How did this happen? Is there any way to find out where this space went? Is there any way to fix this or am I going to have to reformat?

I eventually uninstalled some old programs that I no longer use to make enough room to install the software but there just isn't that much installed on my machine. This has me so confused!!

Thanks in advance!

Rayne

. . and the Temp folder. Each failed install attempt would have put a loads of files in the Temp folder.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!
Where are old restore points kept?
The temp folder is empty.
When I look at the properties of the C drive It shows that I have very little space left but I cant find anything that says computer management or disk management where is it located?
I'll try crap cleaner and let you know if it works.

Thanks Again!!

MY COMPUTER-rt click-properties-disk cleanup-more options-bottom menu, system restore. It will del all the restore points except the last one. Then empty the recycle bin.

You may have the hard drive partitioned and you dont
realize it. What this means is your hard drive is split into
to parts. You are only using on part of it and there is
another section that is blank. You can reformat the
computer so that there is one partition that uses the
whole hard drive.

go to my computer and right click on your hard drive
icon(c: usually) and select properties. See how much space
is showing up. Once when i was formatting a 20 GB hard
drive, i accidently typed in 2,000 MB instead of 20,000
MB.(2 GB) So if under your c: properties, if the total
amount doesnt add up to what you KNOW your hard drive
is, that is the problem.

Thanks Everyone! After running Crap Cleaner and getting rid of old restore points I now have 8GB more room on my HD. Thanks for all the suggestions!
