Windows XP:
Last weekend I decided to reformat my computer. I did it two different times (using quick-format) and wound up with different types of problems occuring. The problems were just random things like my internet connection not being recognized and i forget what else, but not the actual problem of partitioning and installing xp then. I then attempted it a third time using just regular format method.
All 3 times I believe i deleted the partition and then created a new one. The 3rd time around it just is not letting me do it. I tried to do it through that "repair" interace but it doesn't make any difference.
It says it can't access the space/disk. I'm not sure if its saying this because there is no partition there or because it just can't use the space to make a partition.
When I get to the screen to create a parition pressing the C key, which is supposed to let me create a partition, doesn't do anything. Pressing any other key takes me to a blue screen with error messages. The error messages say to try and turn off shadowing and some other stuff (which i did try) and then trying to partition/install again.
I remember it saying the error might be related to setupdd_sy. I found that file on my windows xp cd but I really dont know what to do from there.
Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like you are trying fix things with
a badly mangled XP installation.Assuming your hard drive is FAT32, you might
want to consider booting from a modern DOS
boot disk and use it to format the hard
disk. When the format finishes run FDISK to
create a partition, and then finally install
Windows XP.
