Having trouble burning files to a DVD...

Acer / Aspire 1650
May 6, 2009 at 04:50:43
Specs: Windows XP, 1GB
I'm not sure if it is a problem with my DVD Drive or Nero 7 but I'm having trouble copying my files to DVDs.

These days Nero seems to be going through periods of working and not working. Yesterday I was burning some video files to a disc with no problems, saved files to about 6 discs before it suddenly decided it couldn't do anymore. It's not working today either.

I saved this error log today:

That is far more info than you should have posted without being asked. That said, one thing that jumps out in there is
"Bus Type : via Inquiry data (1) -> ATAPI, detected: ?"

That MAY indicate that you don't have the motherboard chipset drivers installed and/or the drives are not running in DMA mode.

Check in device manager.
IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers> Primary IDE channel> advance settings. Report what you see there.

Repeat for Secondary IDE channel.

Sorry. I felt that I had posted too much but I couldn't tell which was the most important information.

I don't think I have a Secondary IDE Channel. Under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers I get Primary IDE Channel and
Intel(R) 82801FB/FBM Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 266F.

For the Primary IDE Channel:
Device 0
- Device Type: Auto Detection
- Transfer Mode: DMA if available
- Current Tranfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 5

Device 1
- Device Type: Auto Detection
- Transfer Mode: DMA if available
- Current Tranfer Mode: Ultra DMA Mode 2
