Hello, I'm having a problem with IE 6. First off I ask kindly that you refrain from the typical 'IE sucks get firefox' business because I do actually have FF and Opera installed, I just prefer to use IE as my primary browser.
So without further adieu... I can use IE fine on sites except Windows Live Mail. I start it up, log on, and it looks like all is gonna be good until the box 'Internet Explorer has encountered an error and must be closed' comes up.
It's frustrating because to check my mail I'm having to use Firefox, which is the only other browser for Windows that allows me to use Windows Live Mail's 'full' mode.
Any help?

Yes, I cannot stand it, so uninstalled it. I will stick with IE 6 for as long as is practically possible.

Have you clicked on the "More Information" or "Details" of the error window before closing it?
Life's more painless for the brainless.

That's what I expected. I'm guessing that the problems with IE6 began after uninstalling IE7?

Aye, I've had IE 7 on here before. I've uninstalled it and went back to IE 6. There were some oddities... I noticed in add/remove programs, IE 7 was still there.
Believe it or not I've actually tried most of those solutions on that page.
Jennifer - I did click the error box but I forgot what it said. I will do it again a bit later and bring a screenshot or something. I think it was something like mshtml.dll.

In that case I think your Windows is flawed or running in an unstable state and that anything you do to right IE6 may not hold.

Perhaps, but a nearing 3 week uptime may disagree with your statement about it being in an unstable state.

I think you should bite the bullet & reinstall IE7. If you give it a chance, I think you'll grow to like it. If not, reinstalling then uninstalling *might* cure your IE6 problem.

BTW, did you try repairing IE6?

I've given IE 7 months to growing to like it.. lol. And never did. I've tried repairing IE and it never worked.. I have found a temporary solution and that's good for now, if I fix the IE problem for the long run I'll post back to my solution. :)
