After I reboot my computer I can change my resolution all I want, but after a few hours of playing Counter-Strike, or bf1942, or watching some movies, it wont let me change resolutions without rebooting. I have the option that says, "Apply changes without restarting" or whatever checked in advanced display settings, but it still wont work.
I recently installed a new monitor (NEC Multisync 97F 19" flatscreen CRT), and I didnt have the problem prior to installing the monitor. I'm not sure if its my new monitor, or my graphics card (PNY Verto geforce 4 ti4200 128mb) thats causing the problem...any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this problem without reformatting or something drastic like that?

Make sure that both devices are listed corretly in your display settings, and if not install the correct drivers for them. You can also update the drivers for both, from NEC and nVidia respectively.

Both drivers are working correctly. Im running the most current NEC drivers, but not the most current nvidia drivers, because they cause a lot of issues with games from what ive heard. i installed them for a bit, and they made my monitor blink about every 10 minutes. I dont think its a driver issue, though im not 100% sure.

Thanks JohnW, but I don't think those links pertain to my certain problem. The Windows 2000 / XP issue that they are referring to is an issue that keeps games from running over 60fps (or whatever your refresh rate is set to on your monitor, ie 85fps).
