A while back i installed software that needed .net framework installed first.Everything seemed fine until i rebooted my computer. It asked me to login with a password which i've never had to do before and i never created a password in the first place. It used to go straight to my desktop.Net framework created another user account which caused this to happen.I could only find 1 program to get me out of this mess but just couldn't get it to work so i was locked out of my computer with no choice but to reinstall.
If you don't have a password on your computer, do yourself a favor and create one. Then through your user account, make a floppy containing the program that allows you to change passwords in case you ever get locked out like i did.Still can't believe this happened but trust me IT DID!.

You could just as easily have gone in through safe mode. Most users when installing the OS never include a password.

That being said you could then have reset your password without any probs.

Lessons learnt the hard way are not easily forgotten.

Here's the fix...

First download and install the

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

If this does not fix the problem you will have to do the following...

Follow these steps:

1. On the Welcome screen, click your user name to start Windows.

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

3. In the Open text box, type regedit, and then press ENTER to start Registry Editor.

4. In Registry Editor, locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

5. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

In the right pane, a Name field that contains New Value #1 of a new value is selected for editing.

6. In the Name field, type ASPNET, and then press ENTER to replace New Value #1 with ASPNET.

A new value that is named ASPNET is created under the subkey that you located in step 4.

7. Quit Registry Editor.

8. Click Start, and then click Shut Down.

9. In the Shut Down dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.

When Windows restarts, your desktop appears.
