Comment:

I have a problem that is really annoying and i would really appreciate
if someone could help me.
Whenever I try to defragment my C Drive i get the blue screen with the
following info:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

...

Tehnical Information :
*** STOP: 0X0000000A (0X00000166, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0X804ECF8E)

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.

After surfing a few hours on the net searching for an explanation i`ve
found that the problem is that I have conflict(s) on my PC.
I checked System Information and found 8 conflicts or whatever they are.

Cosmin: some suggestions;

do an error check on your drive before running defrag;
1. click Start, My Computer, right-click the selected drive.
2. choose Properties, Tools tab, click Check Now in the Error-Checking section.

the second disk option includes the first option.

if you check either option, then the scan will not start until the next startup.
if you leave both options unchecked, then you can start the scan now.
a NTFS formatted disk will automatically replace bad clusters and log all key file activity.

boot using the F8 key into Safe Mode, then run defrag.

if the 0x0A error persists, have a look at:

and

let us know what worked for you...
