Hello everybody I have an 15GB hard disk(File system FAT32) partioned into two. first partition(drive C) is 9.75 GB second partition(drive D) is 4.51 GB here is the problem, when i go to MY COMPUTER(WIN XP) and right click on C, and click properties it says "used space 7.97GB" but when i open drive C select all contents(I have view hidden folders enabled) and then right click and click on properties it says: "size on disk 6.12GB" Well if u compare the two sizes that is a difference of 1.85GB's not accounted for MISSING??. I have the same problem with drive 'D' I have disabled system restore, emptied the recycle bin, virus scanned with SOLO, AVG. scanned for trojans with TDS-3, Swat it, Pest patrol. Also defragmented both partitions(it took a while as it kept restarting) I don't know why this is maybe some windows thing.......thanks in advance for any help

The reason why you are missing that much space is becuase Windows tells you the size of the file... but it doesnt say how many cluster that file takes up... IE if your drive has 64k clusters and your file is only 4k it still takes up 64k on the disk.. that is where all that space went...

Read this Yaka it wasn't a problem before this happened ***THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THE PRBLM; C PRBLM BELOW*** So the other day I was getting rid of kazaa and installed kazaalite instead. After that i downloaded an .exe file through kazaalite(i regret opening it-but..) and scanned it with avg, tauscan and pestcontrol, they reported it was OK, then i scanned it with trojan remover it reported that it may have a trojan(somthing.XP-i don't remember the name). Anyway trusting the otherscans I thought give the file a shot so, i opened it, after that everything was fine, but the system slowed down a bit, but that was probably because of the application I was running. So, i leave the system as is for the night the morning I wake up I find my C drive is filled up 1.5GB gone(the night before it had more than 2GB free but in the morning only 600MB(I CHECKED SIZE BY RIGHT CLICKING ON C THEN GOING TO PROPERTIES) left)I am a newbie so i thought give SYstem restore a shot(i couldn't find out what was taking all the space)so i restore the system back to before i installed kazaalite, but system restore didn't solve the problem as my drive was still filled i don't remember if the file was gone- but i deleted all kazaa and kazaalite)So, i tried restoring to even an earlier date, but no avail, C drive was still mysteriously filled, so i tried to go back to the original point before using any system restore but it would not go it says SYSTEM CANNOT BE RESTORED TO THAT POINT- something like that, now system restore would not restore it to any point either same error message.
