Hey,
Im having a problem with my hard-drive, after the computer has been used for about 1 hour the hard-drive will shut down (it makes a sound but it isnt a mechanical click)and then when i try to restart my computer my computer is unable to locate my hard drive and demands a bootable floppy or CD. After about 15 mins the computer is able to find where the hard drive is but it will only work for a short amount of time before the hard drive shuts down again and the computer eventually freezes.

It sounds like a failing or overheating harddrive. Try removing the side of your case and/or moving the hard drive to the outside of your pc. If this helps you need to find a way to cool the drive. If it doesn't help I'd backup your data and get a new drive as soon as possible.
