Anyone help ? Someone plugged one end of a usb cable into a Windows 2000 laptop while it was running and the other into my XP pc while I was working on the pc. The result was the pc shut down instantly and won't start up again. On start up the cd and dvd drives light up, the moniter light comes on and goes amber. No beeps and no hard drive startup. Any ideas ?

Paula

My guess would be a 5V line to a 5V line which may have blown your PS. If you have a spare PS, I'd try there and #^%$& slap the person that did that to you!!!!!

When all else fails, beat the %*#$! out of it!!!

Thanks for all the help and advice, folks. Someone up there likes me, 'cos when I turned the machine on today after being off for a day, it powered up and worked fine ! No spookie messages, no weird stuff, so I think I'll just keep the pc in a locked room from now on !
Thanks again.
