I just bought a 250gig western digital hard drive, and I’m having problem installing it on my winxp sp2 computer. The problem is that I can see it on my boot sequence, but when windows is running I can’t see it on my computer neither on the disk management. I have a Lg dvd burner (master) a 250gig western digital hard drive (slave) with 3 partitions (ntfs) and a 20 gig Maxtor hard drive (master) with one partition (ntfs). I have my windows installed on my 20 gig hard drive. When I disconnect my old 250 gig hard and connect my new 250 gig hard drive I can see it in my computer and I can access to the 2 partition that I have made in that one, but if I try to connect the other 250 gig hard it wont show it in windows bud I can see it in boot up. Any suggestion? (Also I would like to know how to change a drive’s letter after I installed it, and how many partition I can have with ntfs)

HOW TO: Change Drive Letter Assignments in Windows XP
Maybe some help in the following--
Hard Disk Does Not Appear in My Computer or in Windows Explorer

I am going to assume that your cables are properly connected. Your jumper is across Master and Slave so as your WD is the Master and the 20 GB HD is the Slave. Then put your DVD on the second IDE connector as a Master. You should maintain your hardrives, if more than one, on one IDE cable and your CD or DVD on the second cable. I also suggest you put your OS on the larger drive. Yes, I know, to each is own, but most computer manufactures suggest doing it the way I mentioned above. Then again, you can do what makes you feel better.
