Hello,I would like some info about my hard drive, because my other pc crash and lost all my data and I own my retail windows xp home edition version 2002,I put my xp cd in my pc for *R* but there was an error popped up that reads that the cd may need cleaning,so I hope it was dirty and not any other error it may cause, this in the middle of downloading procces right(AFTER*R*)So I took it out and I discovered >>>A CRACK CD FROM THE CENTERED HOLE CRACK HALF WAY ACROSS THE XP CD,THEN I LOOKED AT IT CLOSELY AND I SAID WHAT THE F**K HAPPEN TO MY CD THEN IT STARTED TO CRACK MORE ALL THE WAY,MY COMPUTER WAS NOT HOT NEITHER WAS MY XP CD,IT FELT JUST FINE,AND HOW AM I WRITING TO YOU ONLINE-I`AM USING MY SECOND PC WITH A SMALL SIZE HARD DRIVE-WHATS IN IT-WINDOWS XP PRO CAME FROM REFURBISHED PC STORE,BUT I CAN USE IT BUT THE HARD DRIVE IS TOO SMALL TO ADD ANY GAMES AND PC IS NOT FAST ENOUGH,SO I HAVE A LARGER FRESH HARD DRIVE(SEAGATE 40 Gbytes)the one that crash and its empty now.AND I WOULD LIKE TO TRANSFER MY OLD HD TO MY NEW HD.BUT I MUST USE MY EMPTY LARGER FRESH HARD DRIVE TO MY FIRST PC THE ONE THAT CRASH FROM MY LARGE HARD DRIVE. ANYONE? Thanks. mypitters.

Acronis True Image can clone one drive to another if that is your aim, your post lacks clarity:

That is why I ALWAYS make a backup of any software I get and install from the backup. If you know someone with a retail version of WinXP home, and you have a VALID installation key, you should be able to use a borrowed CD of the SAME version to install. If that works then burn a copy of that CD for yourself. You own the License. All caps is shouting.

And if you have bona-fide XP CD... M$ will usually replace it for a nominal fee (usually postage?) - as long as you have a valid key; likewise if it came with the PC originally that vendor may do the same - especially if it's an OEM or recovery CD...?

Worth a try in either case?
