i am currently having problems with my hard drive. i am supposed to have 20gb of hard drive space but at the moment can only use 12 of it. i went into computer management to find that packard bell have partitioned the hard drive before i purchased it and there is a hidden partition called backup. Does anyone know if the stuff on the partition is needed and if not how do i get rid of it??

You can use a program like Partition Magic to resize the partition. I wouldn't delete any stuff from Packard Hell. They often put proprietary stuff on there to keep your machine running smooth ( HA). You can always add a second HDD to your machine if you don't think you have enough space. 12 Gigs is a lot for the average user.

Dont mess with the Pacbell partition. This is your recovery of the system. You don't need disk space THAT bad. Get another drive if you need to expand.
