Hi Guys,
I'm having trouble with my new hard drive I just bought today. I have connected it and used the correct jumpers as far as I know and yet it does not show up in my computer.
XP says its found it and when I got to device manager, sure enough its there 'Excelstor Technology J340' and it say its working ok!!!
I don't understand why its not showing up in 'My Computer '?
I'm new at this game, but is this caused by me having my master partitioned? And if so, will deleting the partition erase all my Files?
I'm really really stuck here, I have tried all the possible jumper positions and yet it wont show up!!
There is also a page in the installation guide that mentions UDMA & 16 Logical head or 15 Logical head!!..means nothing to me. Is this why its not showing up???

please HELP!!!
Vince

The drive doesn't show up in My Computer until it is partitioned and formatted.

You use disk manager for this function.

Install the drive correctly so the bios sees it. Go into control panel/computer management/disk manager and view the drive here.

This is where you would partition and format it. This will assign a drive letter and then you will see it in my computer.
