I just recently installed a new hard drive. When I was done installing windows and rebooted the computer it only showed the 80GB hard drive as having 31GB free. How can I recorrect the problem so that it shows the full amount of space? Thank you.

Go to bios and see if hd shows as correct size.
Use admin tools disk management to see what it shows.
What did it say when you loaded xp? Did it give you a chance to format or did you do a ghost image or use the hard drive application.
The simple answer might be to partition the end space and mount it as a folder under C:Otherwise you either need a partition app like on knoppix or by symantec or a reinstall.

First it needs to be correctly indentified in BIOS.
Then you need to partition it.
XP is limited to about 32GB. This is probably what happened to yours.
You need to partition with w98se and the newer fdsik, available here:

Is it! First I have heard of that. FAT32 might be limited to 32GBs but with NTFS there is no such limit. If XP is limited to 32GBs a Windows98 boot disk isn't going to help as that is limited to 32Gbs.
You don't need a floppy wither. All the partitioning and formatting for XP can be done with XP installation disk.
As jefro said, you probably just need to go into disk management and partition and format the remaining space. This can be done within XP. No Fdisk, no partition manager, it is all there for you.

98se is limited to about 63GB.
The new fdisk goes to about 137GB.
Seems like we go through this at least four times a week.
