I have a 2nd Hard drive that I stored files on...I recently bought a new computer and installed the storage drive as a slave on my PC. This hard drive shows up in the Hardware profiles but it does not show up in my computer, thus not allowing me access to my stored files...I used a program I found on the web called virtual lab data recovery software and it located the stored files, so I know they are on there...Is there any way to get my computer to see the slave drive??

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think ur prob is that the disk is set as Dynamic.

Don't do anything yet, but I think u will need to re-partition/re-format the drive before XP will let u use it.

Hope this helps

Hi

I am suffering with the same problem i believe.

I have got all my files on my slave drive. When i formatted my C drive, and installed Windows XP on it again, i couldn't see my D drive (slave) in my computer.

I am seriously worried, as i have over 5 years data on the other disk.

It is recognised in the bios, and i haven't checked in disk management yet, which i will do as soon as i get home.

I also checked on a partition software called pqmagic and it is recognised in there also. But! where the file format would usually say NTFS or FAT32, it says HEX. Does this mean anything? Is this Dynamic? whaich you were talking about.

I understand that formatting would be an easy option to overcome this, but how do you get your files across to yer other drive first if you can't see it in windows?

Please help

Best Regards

OB1

please supply any links to programs that are useful, Thanks!
