Hard drive not detecting in XP

Specs: Windows 7, core2duo/2gbram
MY samsung 160gb ATA hard drive not showing its 70gb in XP. But after installing windows7 it shows as "unallocated space" & by making new partition i can use that 70gb. BUT when i tries to install windows XP then all of that specified 70gb disappears. Now that 70gb become 'usable' only in windows7 but 'Unusable' in XP

WHY this specified 70gb of the hard drive disappears and became unusable in window XP?& HOW to solve this problem?

N:B: this prob arose when i used dual operating system "windowsXP" and "windows7" in separate drive & format windows7 simply using XP's drive format option.
