hard drive not detected on my laptop

Specs: Windows xp
I have a sata 160gb hdd that i am trying to put windows onto and it keeps telling me hdd not installed, try reseating it. When i use hiren utilities it recognizes it. Why cant I get it to be recognized by Windows?

If you are trying to install WinXP then you need to supply SATA drivers at the beginning of the install.

how do i supply the sata drivers if my laptop does not have a floppy drive?

You can integrate them into the files on your installation CD and then burn a new copy. You can use nliteos to perform that task. Get nliteos at the link below.


Before you go any further you should verify that there are all the drivers you need available for WinXP. Oftern, that is not the case.
