My hard drive seems to be filling up but I cannot figure out with what or why.
I recently installed Partition Magic 8.0 on my Best Buy VPR Matrix 5110P with 512MB of Ram, a 100 GB hard drive & Windows XP Home Edition. After dividing my 100GB hard drive into 3 roughly equal partitions for System, Applications & Data, the machine seemed to be working fine.
After a few days however, I noticed that I got a C: Disk Running low on space message. Upon investigating, it appeared that my C: Drive was full. Upon rebooting, the 30 or so GB "used" shrunk down to 4GB. I have noticed that over the period of a few days, the drive keeps filling up, but cannot figure out what it is filling up with, as there are no files/folders that are anywhere near the size necessary to fill my 30GB partition. I have turned off the Auto Recovery feature. Any ideas?

System restore can take up a lot of space.
There are some viruses that also fill your hard drive.
What happens when you go to disk cleanup? Any large amount of "stuff" in any of the categories?

make sure your viewing hidden and system files and look in the root directory of C:/
I had a similar problem and found that it was my antivirus program kept creating a 6Gb dat file in the root !! It wasnt a virus (It was AVG Antivirus software if anyones interested). So I uninstalled and replaced with diff AV software. Fixed it
By the way, your pagefile is in the root too.. dont mix anything up with that. Its a big file but not 'that' big!!
