1) I just took the old hard drive from my brothers computer, and when i put it on my computer it shows up as two drives.
2) How do i make it one drive again so i can install linux onto it?

well there must be two partitions on it (you should ask your bro about that). to reformat it stick in your xp cd and run the setup thing and you'll be able to delete the partition (you'll lose everything that is saved on it). you could also go to the manufacturers (i know western digital has one) website and they might have a diagnostic tool that will allow you to zero the hd (thats when all the 1's and 0's that are written to the drive get turned into 0's). then just pop in the linux cd and reformat the drive and you should be good to go.

E-mail me if what I said helped, it's part of the 12 steps.

An alternative would be to download DelPart. It will delete all the partitions on the drive.
