Ok this might get confusing but id appreciate any and all help.
First off i have two systems i have built now i have some knowledge of how to build computers but im running into a problem. I have one system that runs fine.the specs are
2 amd dual 1.4ghz mp procesors
512 ddr ram
asus a7m266-d motherboard
windows xp os
geforce 2 graphics card
100mb ibm hard drive
(ill call this system "A")now in my second system i have
1 amd 1.8ghz mp processor
geforce 4 graphics card
tyan thunder k7 motherboard
no os
100mb hard drive
(this will be system "b")now my problem is that im tyrin to get windows 2000 pro onto system B. I put the system together and all i get is a black screen. I've already applied the drivers for the motherboard. Am i missin a step or did i do sumthin wrong?
So far this is what ive done, i went into my working system, system A, and tried to put an os on system B but had no luck. System A runs off of Windows XP and putting in a Windows 2000 pro cd it automatically cancels the setup part of the cd.
The hard drive in system B is formatted to NTFS already.
Should i erase the formating done to it?
Or is there a step im unfamilar with?
Plz advize.Oh one last note i used partition magic to partition the drive for system B. But the drive was formatted while being a slave drive in system A.
I want to run to diffrent systems each having one drive n one being windows xp and the other windows 2000.
i know this has alot easier of a solution then how im making this out to be, but we all know looking at the same problem over n over we overlook the easy solution so, yeah.

Being the system B was formatted as a slave it might not be an active primary for the SO to install
Boot that computer with any Bootdisk and use Fdisk, use the option to Display the partiton and see if it is a primary active partiton.

sorry forgot to mention that part, system B hard drive was partitioned as a primary ntfs hard drive.
I used partition magic pro to partition the drive while it was connected to system A as a slave drive. However once i took the drive from system A and put it in system B as a primary drive nothing happened. i just stare at a black screen then the screen say no output put out by the drive. However i tested everything in system B with the drive from system A and it runs fine. so sumthing is still wrong or i messed up somewhere on system B's drive.
System B's drive is set as ntfs primary active drive.

Maybe a dumb suggestion but did you change jumper settings on the HDD when you moved it from A to B ?

I changed the jumper on the system B drive by placing the small lil jumper clips (the lil peices that slide over two of the pins).
Since i had my system A running fine, i set that up as a master, used the clip on the system B drive(made it into a primary slave) placed it in system A. From there i partitoned it as a NTFS Primary Active Drive.
Then i took it out of system A hooked it back up into system B without the jumper clip and i just stare at a black respones or i get the message from the monitor sayin no output from the system.
this has been a frustratin issue for me plz help

Have you tried putting the drive in system B in system A as the primary drive and see if you get the same "black screen" problem?
