A PC i have recently stopped loading anything from the hard drive, no desktop or startmenu icons load anything, and when you go to turn it off the computer freezes.
There is no illegal cracks or any P2P, all its used for is surfing a few basic html webpages and writing letters.
Not sure if this works on all brands, but: Reboot and go into the BIOS setup. Turn on Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock. Then hit ALT+F, ALT+E then ALT+B. Hopefully, this will take you into automatic IDE configuration, which will tell you if the hard drive is functioning/communicating with the mother board. Bob
