Just randomly one day when i was on my computer it when to a blue screen with a bunch of info (which i can't remember) and said i had to restart my computer. When i did it now comes up to a black screen as soon as i start it up and says:

"hard drive device 0 not found"
"hard drive device 1 not found"

strike f1 to retry boot, strike f2 for setup

It just comes up to this black screen and says this every time i start it now. I have 2 hard drives, C and D. This is very random because i have not made any adjustments or anything in months. Thanks for any help if anyone may know how to fix this.

Just because you haven't made any adjustments doesn't mean the HDs still haven't failed.. which kinda sounds like the case.

If you boot into BIOS can you see the drives detected (still doesn't mean there's an issue with them if they are detected, but it does if they aren't).

Additionally if the physical drives are able to be seen (though not booted up) then you can boot to the XP CD and try some of the recovery console tools, esp. FIXMBR and FIXBOOT. *** Note some recovery console options (including these) have the potential of causing data loss ****

Additionally this is all under the assumption that you can not get to a Boot Screen by tapping F8 (where you can select Safe Mode, Last Good Config, Normal, etc.)

If you can get to the boot screen then first try Safe, then Last Known Good Config.

Possible problems that would cause a HD to crash unexpectedly are:

Heat, Humidity, Bad Power, Static Discharge (if you were working on the drive)

Hope that gives you a starting place.

Have you tried F2 to enter BIOS(setup) to see if they are detected ??

yes, if you cannot see your drive in bios,
your hard drive may have physical problem
