Issue:

After having installed XP and adding a second hard drive the slave drive defaults to E: drive. It will switch to D: drive if I disconnect the CD drive but reverts back to E: drive when I reconnect the CD drive.

2-Part Question:

Does it really matter?
Why would this be?

Thanks in advance. Also if this is not the proper location for this post I apologize,

Jim

Two part answer.
No it doesn't matter

I think it may happen because your second drive did not have an 'Active' partition.
Could also relate to which IDE cable you connected it to.

You can change the drive lables in XP anyway on any drive except the 'System' drive.
