The buffer size depends on the size of hd you are buying. Example of Maxtor brand are as follows:
8MB cache buffer for 80GB, 120GB, 160GB and 200GB drive
16MB cache buffer for 250GB and 300GB drive

When it comes to buffer, bigger is better.
I've had Western Digital, IBM, Maxtor, and Seagate drives. All have been reliable but the Seagate drives have been the quietest and curently come with a 5-year warranty.
Summary: Is there some way in XP to change the size of the partitions on a hard drive without completely reformatting it ???? I'm a rookie here, so please use rookie terms if you can help, thanks.... ...
