You are kidding, right? Do you wipe-clean the hd by first formatting it prior to reinstalling XP?

Constantly reinstalling Windows is NOT a "fix".

Obviously you're installing files to the C: partition even though you think you're not. Don't forget about the space needed by System Restore (if you use it) & the swap file. Do you have "show hidden files & folders" switched on?

It would help if you'd increase the size of your primary partition.

How large is the Installer folder ? You might want to download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility:

You probably need to increase the partition size. Five GB for XP is probably not enough for some users. Mine is 10gb and about 4.5gb is used.

Like Jam mentioned, you need space for System Restore files, the Page file and 'maybe' what is causing your problem, the expansion of the Temporary Internet Files and the C:\windows\TEMP files.

If you do not want to increase the partition size, you could try decreasing the TIF limit folder size. IE > Tools > Internet Options > General tab > TIF > Settings.

Also, clear out the c:\documents and settings\your user name\local settings\temp folder occasionally. It collects a lot of junk.

If you have multiple partitions, you can save space by putting your page file on a different partition. This should also give you a slight performance boost as well. I recommend downloading CCleaner. This freeware program is excellent for cleaning many areas of the OS as well as keeping the registry tuned. You might want to turn automatic updates off, I have had no security issues as a result of this. Anyway goodluck! PS If you can,you should create a larger partition,
