Hard Disk Not detected in xp instal

I have a Maxtor 250 gb hard disk in motherboard ASUS P4S800D in my computer which is detected by BIOS but while installing the Windows XP professional, it gives an error after files coping that ¨¨No Hard disk was found on your computer, please check whether is connecterd properly¨. please let me know whether i have to upgrade the oem drivers & if so then where can i find oem drivers to get my hard disk detected by the windows xp installation.

Is this an SATA drive? If so you have to instal the appropriate drivers when prompted during instal in order for windows to correctly identify and instal on the drive.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

Yes it is SATA - Maxtor 250 GB drive with red small cable... please advice where can i find the drivers.

Should have been on a disk that came with the drive or motherboard.

I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

i have got a motherboard cd of model ASUS P4S800D that came along with my motherboard. i can see a folder in that cd named RAID/SisRAID/Disketedrivers.. Can u advise me, is this the same diskete drivers that i have to use for detecting hard disk????

Yes. When you put your XP disk in to load the operating system you will get a prompt to press F6 if you need to load SATA drivers. Do it. Put the motherboard driver disk in and load the SATA drivers. then swap back to the XP disk to finish the instal

Put the driver on a floppy...I don't think you can load sata driver from a cd during setup.
I would double check the website for motherboard as they usually list the driver for download as the driver you are finding is more on the cd or the full Windows driver software.

i have extracted the files from disketedrivers folder of motherboard cd & shall try to offer the floppy during xp installation..for detecting HD for continuing xp installation.. let me see what happens,..
