I read in 'smorning's newspaper that today is the 25th birthday of this little character, :-)

Just thought I'd mention it in case there's a party goin' on somewheres

Happy Birthday!

We know you're old but do you remember how many emoticons you have fathered?

Should I guess there are over 200 emoticons currently in use?

You mean Queensland actually has the Internet ? We won't be on the same time soon when DLS starts down here [Melb] a month earlier than usual.

Apparently there's a Picasso version of Smiley as well..

You mean you have to have a whole extra month of one extra hour of daylight per day? No wonder we banana-benders have such brightly coloured curtains, while you southerners have the drab, faded ones.

And on the subject of pirates, Queensland is getting into the spirit, now that we have Captain Bligh at the helm.

Oh, happy birthday, Smiley.

You mean the Smiley Face? It's older than 25, because it was very popular when I was a kid in the late 60's.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

Oh why didn't you patented it before Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science did?

You would now be living a very magnificant & splendor life off the royalities generated every time someone type or print a Smiley face:-)

Jennifer, the birthday is for the computer smiley, those famous three keystrokes. The original, as we all know , was invented by Forrest Gump.

And Sci-Guy, our government decided to start earlier this year for silly reasons like Global warming and tourism. They didn't ask us, they just did it...democracy at work. Oh well, back to dark mornings going to work again.
