Everytime i boot my laptop with xp home, it hangs at "Windows is starting up", this is after the xp logo with the black background, just before its about to list all user accounts. It does this in normal and safe mode. I can do anything to work out whats going on, any ideas?

HI:have you deleted Something lately from your PC which affected the registry it Sounds to me like a registry problem Or a program @ startup has been Corrupted !!! anyhow , have you tried the System restore ? also what about the Sfc /Scannow ? Finally you should do the following: 1) Scan your PC for viruses/Trojan/Spyware 2)Test the RAM - I like Memtest86+ from www.memtest.org. 3)Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility from the mftr 4)Test your PSU Bon Courage..

I was doing a reinstall of my laptop and ran into the same thing. but my problem had to do with the fact that I tried to do an "auto login" without supplying the password (using Tweak UI). So when Windows tried to start, the "Windows is starting up..." screen was on TOP of the dialog box that said my password was wrong. So, I just did an Alt+Tab to bring up the password window.
