hang up, preparing to hibernate

my laptop a sony vaio pcg-gr370 Intel P3 1.17Ghz 256mb hangs up whenever it is hibernating, I have to plug it on power and disable hibernating so it wont hang, It's stuck on the "Preparing to hibernate" i need to pull the batteries out in order to reboot. I have search forfew days now and i can figure out what"s causing the problem need some advice.

I am having the same problem. Everything I can find about it (including the MSKB article listed above) suggests an incompatibility with XP SP1 and Nero CD burning software. The problem is, I'm having the exact problem described, but I do not and never have had Nero installed on this machine. HP pavilion ze4145 laptop. Any other suggestions?

I used to hibernate all of the time. All of the sudden, it's started to do this hang up thing the 2nd time I hibernate in a session. It's annoying.
