Hang time on Booting

I have had this problem for some time now. When booting up, there is a 10-15 sec period of blackness between the windows XP splash screen and the logon screen. I never had this problem when I first installed XP, but after several clean installs, it still the same. Thares just blackness, no harddrive activity or anything. Is there a timeout option in msconfig that might have been changed or a bios setting? Any ideas would be appreciated. If I remember correctly, I think this started when I replaced the OS harddrive. Thanks

Have you tried booting the system with the command line option...you know, the one that allows you to see each step as it is taken. You might be able to pin down the step that takes a longer period of time than normal.
