I just got cable internet. But i installed my wireless router a few days before i got the cable modem and configured the router to get it working and everything. I now have the internet too and it works fine. But as soon as i connected the cat5 cable to the ethernet port is when it started. Upon loading of Windows XP, after the boot screen with the logo and bar that goes by at the bottom, the screen just hangs black for about two minutes and then it continues loading. Why is this happening? Can i get rid of this?

Go into msconfig, disable all startup items and restart, it does not stall while loading windows, you'll be able to isolate the likely culprit that way.
I agree; computing.net does need an edit button.

Did you set up the device with usb first? if you did then remove the drivers using add remove programs, as if you are using ethernet then no modem drivers are necessary.
