Allow is pretty normal.

Block is restricting the WebPages from functioning as designed.

Prompt = is a pain.

You choose.

getting your computer messed up can be a pain in the a** too, do we agree on that? :-)

the promp function is there for a reason, and the reason is not to get bashed in a forum, it's rather giving the user some control.

you can set cookies to block and then enable cockies for particular sites that won't work without, for whatever reaon.

Not if you use a browser like Firefox.
You can set cookie to be unloaded after each session or allow certain site to set them.
Below is image of the Firefox's selection page.
Set cookies

But then your choice of browsers is up to you, personally I do not have to worry about cookies, Firefox takes care of them.

I use the Windows Cookie Manager - that is the Privacy Tab (Custom) on IE Options

Set it to Override Auto - and then - permit First Party - Block Third Party and allow Per Session

Using the Sites Button on the Privacy Tab - you can enter Sites like FastClick - Doubleclick etc etc ie well-known Tracking Cookies
