hal.dll file whats up?

I am trying to install XP Pro and i get almost all the way through and then a re boots happens and says missing hal.dll file If i change my bios settings will it fix this BTW the hal file is in the correct folder. thanks

It could be that your PC is not hardware compatible. Try installing XP as a Standard PC. When you insert your installation CD press F5 at the startup. Select Standard PC and continue with the installation. If this still does not work, may be your Hal.dll is corrupt on your installation CD.
