Specs: Windows XP home
Had hard drive completely wiped. I reloaded the computer listed above with windows XP home SP2, then installed SP3. the audio device listed is conextant AMC audio. downloaded from HP site. Sounds and audio device properties/voice/voice recording default device is conextant AMC audio. when I test hardware. The mic level will not change. Mic is not muted, it is selected, just wont work. The sound works fine i.e. cd's dvd's etc. just no mic. UAA, chipset, and Audio drivers have all been installed from HP website. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Go to your sound manager, go to the options and change the display from output monitor to record. Then you should be able to change the mic volume and set the software amp.

Or if you want to hear what your saying you need to unmute the mic monitor.

I have it set to record. Under "recording control", there is not an option to mute/unmute the microphone, just a box with select under it, and an "advanced" button under that. When I click advanced, it has bass and treble sliders, but they dont adjust. under that is "other controls" with a check box for "1 microphone boost" I have tried it with this checked, and unchecked.
