H as default HD drive letter.

Ok so I just did a clean install of XP SP2 Media Center. All legit. But there is an internal card reader on the computer and those slots are assigned automatic drive letters. There are 4 extra assigned letters in addition to the CD/DVD, the floppy and the HD. Except, when Windows installed, it gave the HD letter H instead of C and C is assigned to one of the supid card slots.
So my options are to unplug the card reader from the mobo, wipe and reinstall. I can't rename the default HD. Tried allready. Other than having to change the C to H when I install software, is that whole H or C buisness gonna be a headache, or do I need not worry about it and finish setting up my system. Thanks, a speedy reply would be best :) (Need computer for homework.)

You 'could' leave it on H:, but since you just did the install, I suggest that you do the install over again and this time carefully read the screens and make sure that the install is going to C:. XP does have the weird habit of occasionally installing to a drive other than C:.
Don't have any external devices (USB, etc) connected during the install.

Yes, you will get the option of where to install. It 'shouldn't be necessary to unplug the card reader, but I might be tempted to do it and put it back in after the install is finished.
(edit) You will pick the partition to install in. If you pick the partition on the first drive, it should end up as C:.

Ok and 1 more thing. When I wiped it I used DBAN to clean the disk and used the regualr format (not quick) durring the install process. Should I use DBAN again and quick format, or just regular format, minus DBAN, or what? Thanks!

I suggest that you let the install program partition and format the drive. I always use a full format when doing an install. It takes longer but refreshes everything, which I think is a good idea.
