my dad had this old tuner card that I installed into my pc. Everything works fine.. However, guide plus cannot seem to connect to the internet to download tv listings. I've even gone into the installation folder to do an update, and it says it cant connect to the server and to check my internet connection. I know for a fact my connection is fine. But is anyone having this problem or have a solution. I'd like to watch tv on my pc and record if possible but I cant if it wont download the listings. Anyone have a link to the update? Maybe an alternative to using guide plus? I've looked for a website for guide plus but they only give me help for other countries for non windows guide. I cant find help anywhere, I just want it to connect to the internet.

My Gemstar GuidePlus+ stop working about 6 months ago. But any ways they stopped supporting it. Real bummer because this means no more free DVR guides. I think there are some open source Guides out there but they don't work well with TV cards. I heard Windows 7 or Vista Home Premium had this kind of support but I have not bought my copy of Windows 7 yet.

Vista and windows 7 does have this support, I just wasnt ready to upgrade out of xp since vista cant be that reliable and I havent heard much feedback of any sort about windows 7 since the release. I did find an open source guide but I am having problems getting the configuration down. Maybe it is time for a pc upgrade of some sort.
