i want to run gta2 on windows XP, and iknow it has problems that compatability mode cant sort out, and windows says to contact the makers, which i did, and they said there would be no further update for gta2 on XP, and i have installed the latest patch. I have heard that a no-cd crack can make it work, if it will, could someone please post a link to where i can get one? That isn't the best option though, because without using the CD, there is no music, and i really like the music. Basically, i need to know if there are any good, proven ways to get GTA2 working on XP, sorry i went on for so long, and help appreciated, thanks.

If you're having ongoing trouble the best thing to do is rollback the service pack one that causes the failure. Compatability wizard will NOT work for this as you've stated but some people seem to miss. The patch will work but then it will claim there is no cd present which means rewriting the path to the correct cd driver which is a pain in the fingers. The no cd crack will overwrite the files you just patched which completely defeats its own purpose. Like I said, your only option is to remove that service pack, which you installed for a reason. Good luck!
