Comment:
our domain has a Group Policy Object that sets everyone's homepage to our intranet. This is something that we would like to maintain.
However, there are certain scattered individuals who would like to be able to set their homepage as something different. I can do that, but every time the PC refreshes policy (every 90 minutes by default), it resets the homepage back to our intranet.
I would like to avoid creating an entirely new OU and GPO in AD. Does anyone know of any slick ways to have IE retain its homepage settings, or to overwrite the GPO settings on the local machine?
Thanks in advance.
PS wasn't sure if this should be in the Server'03 forum or the XP forum, but i figured since the issue is on an XP box...

Tell the users the Policy is for the homepage to be whatever it is. If you start making those types of exceptions for some people, then they, or others, will start demanding more exemptions from the Domain Policy.

You can always add the url to the target of an IE shortcut
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://www.bbc.co.uk/This locks homepage
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
Add Dword called Homepage value 1Sysinternals used to have GpDisable. But I believe Microsoft have stopped it might still be able to get it
