Graphics Driver problems

Ever Since i updated to the latest detonator drivers on NVIDIA’s site my graphics card has been nothing but a pain. Almost every time I restart the computer it restarts in 16 colors at 640x480 resolution. And I need to reinstall the graphics driver. I have tried removing the driver and installing both the original ones that came with the graphics card and the updated version from NVIDIA.
my computers specs are as follows AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 512MB PC-2700 DDR (pc2700) 128MB Abit Geforce 4 Ti4200 8x Windows XP Pro

Have you been using 'Detonator Destroyer' before trying to install the new drivers.

no i havent. i have just gone into the hardware device manager pannel and selected uninstall driver. i the driver after restarting... but it made no differance whenever i restarted i would have to install the driver again. do you know of any other programs like Detonator Destroyer that support windows 2000/XP
