Is it worth buying an 8x AGP graphics card when my mobo is only 4x. My friend reckons he can tell the difference and also has the setting to goto 8x on the graphics adjuster program.
I have a K7S5A which states to be only 4x and have a GeForce MX400 and wanted to upgrade to the GeForce FX5200 which is 8x...but is it worth spending money on this upgrade or not?

Thanks

4X vs 8X on your ECS board and mine can only be upgraded by replacing the board to see any real benefit. If your goal is to be able to use DirectX9 for heavy gaming than get a 9600pro. I recently got a FX5200 128, and I am happy with it, but I am not a gamer. It is a nice card for the money, and for my digital photography editing. I think it was worth the extra $15 over a TNT 64, etc.

OK thanks for your points. Anyone else care to say whether or not they would bother buying this new card?

I ought to mention that I will be playing LAN play Operation Flashpoint and apparently, it configures it's graphics settings to the slowest and worst machine so that you're all the same...i dont want to hold the group up but I'm not going to splash out £55 just for their sake! Not unless it is really going to increase my spec.

???
